Homemade Chocolate Glaze

I am NOT one of those crazy people who scrapes the icing off of cakes before they eat it. I love the creamy, buttery richness. The only problem is that I can’t eat too much butter or my belly gets mad at me. This chocolate glaze recipe is fabulous – butter free – and takes about 5 minutes to make. I originally saw the recipe on allrecipes.com. See:

I even used Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk! Craziness.

All you have to do is warm a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk over medium heat and gradually add ~1-2 cups of chocolate chips until it is well blended and smooth.

Remove it from the heat and keep stirring…add some vanilla extract and stir some more. Let it cool for ~5 minutes but continue to stir while it cools.

Now…pour it over the cake! I made chocolate cake, but you can pour it over whatever you want. It might even work as a cookie glaze.

It has a wonderful shine to it.

Next time, I’d like to try a different flavor…like butterscotch glaze. Yes. Absolutely, yes.
